The Top Social Media Tips

Top social media tips to think about before you start

Social Media is an incredibly powerful tool if utilised correctly for business. Combined between them, all of the social networks boast billions and billions of users. And these billions of people are a potential audience for your business to reach if marketed correctly.

However, it is incredibly difficult to 'master the art of social media. Some companies will spend millions and millions trying to get a campaign to go viral. Whereas others may create a video for free and manage to reach hundreds of millions through it going viral.

There is no exact science but there are ways you can ensure that your social media strategy is optimised and that your business is getting the most out of its social media. And so today we are going to look at some of the top social media tips to help your business grow its digital presence.

The business social media mentality

These tips will help you across many of the major social networks. Despite them all having their unique features and audiences, as a business, there is a universal approach that you should be taking to your social media in general.

However, when it comes to for example, how often you should be posting on social media or what type of content you should be posting, this, of course, can vary depending upon your social network.

For example on LinkedIn, you'll only want to post ideally once a day and have something informative about your products, your business, any vacancies etc. Whereas on Twitter this can be used to tweet developments regarding a certain product or to interact with customers.

Learn about your target audience

When it comes to social media you're going to want to know your target audience inside out. And of course, this will take time and research.

Find out what their hobbies and interests are.

  • What times are they on during the day?
  • What type of posts do they like to engage with?
  • Is there a particular product or service that drives more engagement?

The more you know about your target audience, the more you can do to tailor your posts and contents to ensure that you are meeting their needs which ultimately will lead to a growth in engagement and reach.

Choose what platforms you want to use

Sometimes it may seem best to have your eggs in as many baskets as possible, but that isn't always the case. As some social networks may not be a perfect fit for your business.

At the same time, you may be creating additional work for yourself. And so take your time to think about which social media channels are going to be worth your time and effort.

Set up a content plan

When it comes to content for social media, you're going to want to be organised and prepared. Rarely will it be that you have a sudden event or change in your industry that drives ad-hoc emergency content updates?

You're going to want some good engaging, fresh and preferably evergreen content for your business. You're also going to want to find out when is best to post.

Interact with your customers

Believe it or not, a lot of your audience will rather contact you through social media rather than email or by phone. They also, at the same time, expect a more prompt response via social media.

And so if you're going to utilise channels such as Twitter and Facebook make sure you're on the ball when it comes to responding to queries and leads.

In summary

There are plenty more social media top tips that we can run through, but if you're just getting started in business, the above will give you the biggest headstart when it comes to getting your social media plan in place.

It also will require a lot of planning, thought and research. If you feel like you need a chat regarding your business and its social media plan, you can get in touch here.
