Increasing Engagement In Social Media

One of the most difficult challenges facing a lot of businesses when it comes to social media is how to increase engagement. You need your audience to engage with your post and drive conversation and interest in your business, products or services.

Increasing engagement on social media also usually drives your reach growth and subsequently your following on social media. But as valuable as it is to be able to create engagement through your social media channels as a business, it is a difficult art to master. 

Another positive of increasing engagement through your social media channels is that it also helps to build and strengthen customer loyalty.

Speaking to your customers and audience allows you to build a relationship with them. And helps them to see you as someone who wants to get to know them rather than someone who is going straight after sales.

Choose your content wisely

One of the best ways to increase engagement on social media is to choose content that is worth engaging with from the perspective of your audience.

A poll for example is something that drives and demands engagement. Or posting content that is very topical and will drive debate and opinions is also a great way to drive engagement.

However, you do want to steer away from posting political content that may drive arguments and create frustration against your brand.

Respond to comments

If people are commenting on your post, the last thing they want to feel is ignored. They want to know that they and their opinions are being acknowledged. 

After all, you should be social on your social media channels.

Whether it is a positive or a negative comment ensure that you are taking their opinions and comments on board and make sure that they know that you are.

Run competitions and giveaways

One of the best-proven ways to increase engagement through your social media is through running competitions and giveaways. After all, people love a chance to win something or to get something for free.

A common way to get people to engage with your posts is to ask them to like and share a post of yours in order to be in with a chance of this winning.

This proven method means that you can dramatically increase your reach. As people will see their friends sharing your post and this will then drive their curiosity as to what they are sharing.

Be consistent with your posting

When it comes to social media, as we have touched upon in other blogs is to be consistent.

If you want to get your brand recognised and grow your following, your audience needs to be reminded of your brand. And so you don't want to post every now and then.

You want to consistently post on your social media channels so that your audience doesn't forget who you are and what your brand represents.

Share relevant content

When you follow a page on social media, you follow it because they have a product or service that interests you.

When they post going forwards, you're going to want to be interested in what they post. And for it to be relevant to the initial reasons that you followed them in the first place. And as a business, the same principle applies.

You're going to want to post relevant information to your social media channels that are relevant to your brand. This will also interest your community of followers.

Summing up

In summary, increasing engagement on your social media channels requires a lot of boxes to be ticked. And for these boxes to be ticked in the right way.

Some of the above methods are just some of the ways for you as a business to start growing engagement. And as a result of this also increase your growth as a business and also increase sales.
