6 Ideas To Help You Market Your Small Business

Ideas To Help You Market Your Small Business

As a small business, it can sometimes seem like you’re up against it when it comes to the larger competitors. However, this isn’t the case at all.

Being a small business, you’ve got the same range of opportunities open to you as any of your rivals. These opportunities come in the form of ways to market your business.

It’s just how you make use of these marketing opportunities that essentially decides as to whether your business will start to grow and gain more customers.

Today we are going to take a look at some ideas of how you can market your business if you’re a small business. Some of which you may have already implemented but there may be some that you may not have even considered yet.

So read on and consider just how these ideas could help your business start to exploit these opportunities for the benefit of your business.

Make use of your existing customer base!

When business owners envisage growth, most tend to look straight towards acquiring new customers. However, studies have shown that it can be up to 5x harder to gain new customers than to acquire a sale from an existing customer.

  • Engage with your customer base and look at trends. Do they have repeat purchases?
  • Is there any way you can provide them with a discount on that particular purchase to acquire a sale?
  • Why not try cross-selling a product you will think will complement what they’ve bought in the past?
  • Engaging with these customers also promotes loyalty and assures them that they’ve not been forgotten about.

Create and utilise digital assets

One of the biggest digital assets your business can have no matter what industry you’re in is a website. It has a variety of benefits it can offer your business when it comes to marketing.

Firstly it can tell your story to the customer about your business, your journey and what you’re all about.

You can also let customers know what services you offer, examples of your work and to show off any reviews you may have.

It can also be an incredibly powerful marketing tool that can gain you leads and hand the reigns over to you to convert these leads.

Start to blog!

A lot of people don’t see writing blogs as a way to market your business but it is a hugely valuable tool at your disposal.

The benefits of blogging not only reach to gaining your business organic traffic to your website and moving you up the rankings on search engines. It also allows you to tell your story.

It allows you to give people little snippets to your industry, your products, even you as a business owner.

The more someone knows about a business and the more they can familiarise themselves with what that business is about the more likely they will be to buy off you.

Get involved on social media

Having your small business present across different social networks is also an incredibly valuable digital asset.

People are using social media more than ever before. The importance of being on social media is that people will come across your business on social media without exactly going to look for it.

This allows you to expand your brand and inform people of what you have to offer and maybe prompt them to consider how your product or service could benefit them in ways that hadn’t entered their mind.

Offer coupons and vouchers to incentivise leads and existing customers

In the modern-day people are looking to save money wherever they can and to get the most out of their money. And sometimes consumers will shop around multiple businesses for the same service or product to see where they can get the best deal.

One way in which you can market your business and stay ahead of the competition off the back of this is to over coupons and vouchers to both new and existing customers.

Achieving both new customers and existing customer retention at the same time.

Summary

These are just some of the ideas that you can utilise when marketing your business. Some may work perfectly for your business and some may not be a perfect fit depending upon your business, it’s the industry you’re in and where you currently sit in your respective market.

There is also no blanket strategy on how each of these ideas can be applied to your business to have the maximum benefit.

Instead, each business is different and how you adapt each of these ideas and implement them into your business depends on your strategy.
