What is Feedly?
Feedly is classed as a content aggregator and RSS reader and it's great for helping you curate content for both your website and social media. Giving you inspiration and sources for fresh and engaging content. What we mean when we say it's a content aggregator is that it gathers content from across the internet and will put it all together in one place. You can specify what types of news or information you want it to gather, for example, information related to your industry or towards a certain competitor or product.
Getting started with Feedly
Feedly is free to use to start off with if you want to start getting used to how it works, and how it can benefit your business with your social media strategy.
You can access the Feedly website from any browser and you can also download and access the tool through their iOS and Android apps. And the good thing is that it synchronises your reading across devices. This means that if you read something on your phone that you add to your feed when you log in through the website it will still show.
What you need to know about Feedly Pro
If you are starting to see the benefits from using the platform you can, if you wish, upgrade to the pro version. This allows you to create unlimited feeds from unlimited sources. You are limited to 100 sources and 3 feeds on the free plan. It also removes all adverts and gives you the option of receiving.
Google keyword alerts.
There is also another premium version you can purchase that is called 'Feedly Teams'. It has all of the benefits of the pro version but allows all of this to be shared between team members. This is ideal if you are a medium to large business or produce a lot of content on a consistent basis.
Adding sources
The more sources that you add into Feedly, the more content it is going to be able to aggregate for you. Sources can be anywhere that you get content from, which includes:-
•Blogs
•Keyword alerts
•Reddits
•News websites
•Twitter
•Facebook
•RSS feeds
•Podcasts and much more.
When you first set up your account you will need to add sources to your account. The more sources that you add, the more content Feedly will integrate.
Setting up boards
When Feedly is aggregating content, you may find that some of the content it gathers may not be of any use. However, if you come across an article or blog that is of particular use for your own content and your social media. You'll want to add this to what is called a 'board'. Boards are where you can gather useful content. Having all of these content in one place can help you put together content and plan your social media campaigns.
The power of artificial intelligence
When you're using Feedly you'll also come across a feature called Leo. Their very own in-house AI powered assistant. It uses the power of artificial intelligence to 'cut through the noise', and find content that is of use to you and to ignore content that is just spam. And over time as you start to instruct Leo as to what content is useful and which isn't, it will progressively learn. It will also justify why it has chosen that article for you.
In summary
If you're looking for an intuitive, powerful and user-friendly piece of software that can help you scrape the web for interesting blogs and inspirational content that you can share with your network, you'll not come across anything more perfect than Feedly, take a look at Feedly here
